Our Principles
The principles that shape how we work come from our statutes. They are the measure of every decision we take in the field and of every unit of currency we spend.
Autonomy
We are an autonomous organisation with our own central governance, taking decisions through our own organs.
Independence
We plan and carry out our work independently, free from the direction of any interest group.
Impartiality
We make no distinction of language, religion, race or gender; assistance follows need alone.
Respect for the law
We work in line with international humanitarian law, human rights law and national legislation.
Accountability
We operate under the oversight of the general assembly and open our accounts and activities to the audit board at least once a year.
